Aeromagnetic surveys of the Southern Ross Sea and North Victoria Land (Antarctica), 1990/1991, (project GANOVEX VI)

Listed in NASA Earthdata CMR

Description

The aim of the aeromagnetic surveys in the Ross Sea and North Victoria Land are: a) to develop a model on the break-up of this part of Gondwana b) to map the ocean-continent boundary c) to develop an idea about the evolution of the area since the break-up of Gondwana d) to map the structures of the Transatlantic Mountains. The data were sampled every 10 s, corresponding to 500 m distance. The following instrument was used: PPM Geometics G 811.

The geographical coverage is as follows: about 17000 km of aeromagnetic data have been collected in the Ross Sea and North Victoria Land, Antarctica. Data are available on request, but with special arrangement.
