Replication Data for: Fig 20.5, WTPDs, Males, LRS for cops vs weanlings and vs yearlings, Summaries, 13 July 2026

Listed in data.InDoRES

All the information in today's file is from this latter file, but I deleted some of the information from this latter file because I could not be sure that the information on LRS sexual partners included ALL the WTPD male's sexual partners over his lifetime.

Description

The number of males in the latter file with information on LRS for sexual partners is 48 instead of N = 40 for weanlings in Fig 20.5 In Figs 20.2 and 20.5 the SEMs for both files are almost identical. for both files are almost identical.

PROBLEM: I cannot figure out WHICH MALES I deleted for Figs 20.2 and 20.5. I assume that the graphs for Figs 20.2 and 20.5 are correct, and that I checked them TWO TIMES. I know that I deleted data from WTPD-male 38 (eartag = 915), because we had no info on his cops for 1 year.

But I am not sure about other deletions. If necessary, I could find them. On 07April 2025, I cannot find the RAW DATA for Fig 20.5.

All the raw data are in file OLD File = WTPDs, LRS for MALE cops, babies, yrls, 12 April 2021, but see immediately above about DELETIONS from that file for the WTPD graph in Fig 20.5.

Summary

Fig 20.5 is correct and accurate and has been checked TWO TIMES, and does NOT contain all the data in OLD File = WTPDs, LRS for MALE cops, babies, yrls, 12 April 2021 See notes above. Litter size = litter size at first emergence of offspring from their natal nursery-burrow = number of weanlings. Yearlings = number of weanlings sired that survived for >= 9 months after first emergence Weanlings = number of weanlings sired = number of offspring that emerged from the natal nursery burrow Sample sizes for WTPD weanlings in Fig 20.5 are same as sample sizes in Fig 20.2 of Hoogland 2026.

These data used for Fig 20.5 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 08 April 2025. I considered data from the same prairie dog in different years to be independent.

Remember: Data in this EXCEL file are WTPD SUMMARIES. Raw data in field notes and certain summary tables. Standard errors were usually small, because my sample sizes for each age were large.

In some cases for yearlings, I have shown SEM = 2.2 to show small SEMs that extend slightly beyond the circles— because showing slightly inflated SEMs is better than suggesting no variation at all, in my opinion. When yearlings = 0, then SEM also = 0.
