EDIA – Global Bird Monitoring Program of the Alqueva Dam (EFMA) Secondary Irrigation Network, Irrigation Blocks of Alfundão, Ferreira-Valbom, Loureiro-Alvito, Monte novo, Pedrógão, Pisão, São Matias and Vale de Gaio - Large steppe species: Great Bustard (Otis tarda) [2019-2020]

The dataset contains records of the Great bustard (Otis tarda) collected in the area of the Secundary Irreigation Network of the Alqueva Dam, block B (irrigation blocks of Alfundão, Ferreira-Valbom, Loureiro-Alvito, Monte novo, Pedrógão, Pisão, São Matias and Vale de Gaio), and a control area, performed within the General Bird Monitoring Plan of the area, promoted by EDIA, S.A. Data were collected in the spring/summer of 2019 and winters of 2020.

An ad-hoc number of road transects was performed to detect the target species (in the surrounding fields) using the 500 km road net of the study area. A total of 275 contacts from the Great Bustard was obtained.
