Strengthening Theory–Practice Integration in Nursing Education, 2026 [Canada]

The surveys captured students’ perceptions of how they apply theoretical nursing concepts in clinical contexts, including their use of introspection, self‑reflection, personal and relational engagement with nursing concepts, reliance on prior knowledge and memory supports, strategies for bridging theory and practice, critical thinking, application of course concepts in clinical settings, identifying and navigating challenges, and learning from feedback and experience.

Interview transcripts were used to supplement and deepen the understanding of these perceptions. Field notes submitted by the teaching team document emerging insights as the study progressed.
