<p>This inverted pyramid of care proposes a focus on the first, rather than the third, trimester of pregnancy.
Description
The concept emphasises that many pregnancy complications can be predicted in early pregnancy, by combining maternal history, blood pressure and other biophysical measurements, and biochemical testing. CRM, cardio-renal-metabolic; GDM, gestational diabetes mellitus; LGA, large-for-gestational age; PET, pre-eclampsia; PTB, preterm birth; SGA, small-for-gestational age.
- The diagnosis of GDM is usually made at 24–28 weeks’ gestation, by oral glucose tolerance testing.</p>
