Data for: Daily Goal Orientations and Personal Goal Pursuit in Adulthood: On the Importance of Cultural Regulatory Fit

Few studies have examined this idea in everyday goal contexts. We predicted that promotion orientations would show stronger associations with daily goal pursuit and overall well-being in Canada than in South Korea, whereas prevention orientations would show the reverse pattern.

We analyzed 3,096 daily goal assessments from 127 individuals in Canada and South Korea, who reported on their everyday goal pursuit over 10 consecutive days. Consistent with our predictions, stronger promotion orientation was associated with higher goal pursuit among Canadians than Koreans at the day level, whereas stronger prevention orientation was associated with lower goal pursuit among Canadians than Koreans at the person level.
