The riffle beetle genus Austrolimnius Carter & Zeck, 1929 currently includes 106 described species worldwide, of which 22 are distributed in the New World, including the four species present in Mexico.A new species, Austrolimnius (Telmatelmis) hintoni Arce-Pérez & Reynoso sp. nov., from Mexico is described and illustrated, bringing the total number of species distributed in the country to five and 107 worldwide. An updated checklist of the Mexican species of Austrolimnius is presented, including distribution maps for each species and new state records for the species A. (Telmatelmis) formosus (Sharp, 1882) and A. (T.) sulcicollis (Sharp, 1882).

Additionally, a key to the species of Austrolimnius in Mexico and Central America is presented.
