Officer Master Files

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

The agency created and used automated records for Army enlisted personnel and officers for actions, such as decisions on promotions, transfers, training, awards, and separations.

Description

This series has three components: the central master file, separations, and gains and losses files. The master and separations files include data elements such as the military officer's name, service number, place of birth, citizenship, marital status, civilian and military occupation, race, religion, rank, pay g rade, duty station, medical training and specialty (if any), and whether the officer attended the U.S. Military Academy or was Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) trained.

The gains and losses file has records of individuals entering or leaving the officers service. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC). See the ARC catalog entry for this series for more information on this data and how to order it.
