International Travel and Tourism CD-ROM

Description
The CD-ROM International Travel and Tourism (T&T), has been released by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS, bts.gov) of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT, dot.gov). The T&T is a compilation of national and international travel and tourism data from the years 1970-1996. The Following was abstracted from the Bureau's web site at: bts.gov/ The International Travel and Tourism (T&T) CD-ROM is a compendium of travel and tourism statistics from national and international organizations worldwide.
The T&T project was designed to 1)collect statistics and associated information from national and international agencies that provide a broad view of travel and tourism; 2)make worldwide travel and tourism statistics more readily accessible; and 3)serve as a resource for research, analysis, international comparisons, and the enhancement of statistical collection and presentation. The CD-ROM contains over 200 national and international travel and tourism publications collected from 100 transportation, tourism, and statistical agencies worldwide.

The T&T CD-ROM contains over 14,000 pages of statistics, statements of methodology, and collection instruments, as well as almost 10,000 spreadsheet files extracted from submitted publications and converted to electronic format. Data include information on mode of travel, purpose of travel, type of accommodation, and related travel and tourism statistics. Source of Data: Submissions from 100 national and international transportation, tourism, and statistical agencies from 88 nations worldwide.
