Dispersal structure mass and seed mass across three dispersal-structure types

The dataset was compiled through a systematic literature survey and manual extraction of trait measurements from published studies. Data were collected from 198 publications identified through literature searches in Web of Science and Google Scholar.The dataset covers three major types of dispersal structures: fleshy pericarps, elaiosomes, and wind-dispersal structures (e.g., samara wings and pappus).

For each record, we compiled species information, dispersal structure type, seed number per dispersal unit (when available), dispersal structure mass per dispersal unit, and seed mass per dispersal unit. Seed number per dispersal unit may include non-integer values because some original studies reported the mean number of seeds per dispersal unit based on measurements of multiple dispersal units.Missing values occur where original publications did not provide seed number per dispersal unit.
