Survey of soils and soil temperatures in the Ross Sea Region from Cape Hallett to the Shackleton Glacier for evidence of soil processes operating in Antarctica

Two field seasons were used to sample and investigate the region. Sites visited in the first season (1959-1960) include the Taylor Valley in detail, Cape Royds, Cape Barne, Cape Evans, Turks Head, a short visit to Cape Hallett Station and Marble Point.

During the second season (1964-1965) sampling was conducted in the Cape Hallett region (basins and ridges under Luther Peak, Cape Christie basin, Felsite Island, Redcastle Ridge and other peaks in the area), Inexpressible Island, the Shackleton Glacier area and Roberts Massif, the Brown Hills region of the Darwin Glacier (Diamond Hill, Lake Wilson, Darwin Glacier area and the Brown Hills) and the Victoria Valley (Lake Vashka, the valley floor, high level benches on the Insel Range and to the north of the Barwick Valley, Upper Victoria Lake and the McKelvey Valley).
