Alpha-particle generation via laser-driven proton-boron fusionThe proton-boron-11 (p¹¹B) fusion reaction is an aneutronic process that produces three alpha particles and releases 8.7 MeV of energy entirely through charged particles, making it an attractive alternative to deuterium-tritium fusion for both energy production and as a source of energetic alpha-particle beams. This thesis presents experimental and numerical investigations into driving p¹¹B fusion

Studies of laser-driven ions and kilo-amp pulses in novel regimesThe interaction of a high intensity (≥1018W/cm2) laser with a thin (≈μm) foil target generates a population of hot electrons, a fraction of which escape into the vacuum while setting up sheath electric fields at the target surfaces. These fields accelerate ions, preferentially protons, to multi-MeV energies via the target normal sheath acceleration (TNSA) mechanism, while the

Error data of laser plasma acceleratorOwing to their ultrahigh accelerating gradients, laser-driven proton accelerators (LPAs) have the potential to enable compact proton radiotherapy systems. A key challenge for their clinical application is to maintain beam delivery accuracy at the isocenter under both source-related beam fluctuations and element errors. In this work, we present a systematic error analysis of the beam delivery syste

High-Flux Betatron X-ray Generation from Beam-Loading-Assisted Laser Wakefield Acceleration in Density-Tailored PlasmasHere we report a synergistic enhancement of betatron radiation based on beam-loading-assisted laser wakefield acceleration in a density-tailored plasma. The density profile consists of a two-section longitudinal up-ramp, with a gradual increase in a low-density region followed by a sharp rise near the capillary exit, enabling coordinated control of electron acceleration and betatron oscillations.
