Effect of strenuous exercise in gene expression of both atria of female rats.

Listed in NCBI GEO

Strenuous exercise increases the risk of atrial fibrillation in male athletes and trained male individuals, at least partially mediated by atrial fibrosis and parasympathetic tone enhancement, However, whether women athletes are at an increased risk of atrial fibrillation remains uncertain.

Description

We aimed to analyze biatrial remodeling after strenuous exercise in female rats, and compare results to those obtained in males (GSE289211).

We conducted an RNA microarray of right and left atria of sedentary and intensively-trained rats to uncover the mechanisms leading to atrial fibrosis in intensively trained rats.
