Effect of eIF5A K49 acetylation status on the transcriptome of Toxoplasma gondii

Listed in NCBI GEO

This research series aims to investigate how the acetylation status of lysine 49 (K49) in eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A (eIF5A) influences the transcriptome of *Toxoplasma gondii*.

Description

Using the ME49 strain as our genetic background, we performed whole-transcriptome mRNA sequencing on three distinct variants: the wild-type, an acetylation-mimic mutant (eIF5A-K49Q), and a deacetylation-mimic mutant (eIF5A-K49R).

The parasites were cultured under both standard conditions (non-stressed tachyzoites) and alkaline stress conditions (pH 8.2 medium for 4 days) to induce *in vitro* bradyzoite differentiation. With three biological replicates for each group, a total of 18 samples were analyzed. This dataset provides a robust transcriptomic foundation for gaining deeper insights into how the acetylation of eIF5A-K49 reshapes gene expression programs during the developmental stage conversion of Toxoplasma gondii.
