The genomic sequence of the Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) K1 cell line ( Cricetulus griseus ).

Listed in DataCite

Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) K1 cells are a cell line cultured from the ovary of the Chinese hamster ( Cricetulus griseus ).

Description

CHO cells are often used in biological and medical studies and commercially in the production of therapeutic proteins, which contribute significantly to the $100 billion biopharmaceutical market. BGI sequenced the CHO K1 genome genome using next-generation sequencing technology, assembling a 2.45G genome with 24,383 predicted genes.
