The intestinal microbiome modulates systemic and local glucocorticoid levels in neonatal mice

However, less is known about how the microbiome modulates stress hormone levels in early life and if stress hormone levels within tissues are effected similarly to systemic levels. To answer this question, two groups of C57Bl/6J mice were established with different microbiomes.

Mice were bred and immune tissues and blood were collected at postnatal day 5. These data are 16S sequencing data on the adult microbiome, corticosterone levels in the blood and immune tissues from postnatal day 5 mice, and short-chain fatty acid levels in postnatal day 5 mice.
