Trace metals and sessile microbial communities in two neutral mine pit lakes : Blackburn mine and Forsyth mine, Quebec, Canada
Listed in Borealis
[English] The datasets included in this repository were generated to characterize the environmental conditions and microbial diversity of the Blackburn (MB) and Forsyth (MF) mines, two abandoned and flooded mines located in the Outaouais region of Québec, Canada.
Description
Microbial communities were characterized for bacteria (bac), archaea (arc), and eukaryotes (euc) in both the Blackburn and Forsyth mines. For each microbial group, three files are provided.
The file “raw_meta_[bac/arc/euc].csv” contains the sample metadata, including sampling site, depth, lifestyles (planktonic vs surface-attached), surfaces type (rock, wood, metal) and associated environmental information, including trace metals concentrations. In the Blackburn mine, water and surface-attached samples were collected in june 2022 along a depth gradient (0, 6, 12, 24, 37, 43, and 52 m). In the Forsyth mine, water and surface-attached samples were collected along a depth gradient (0, 6, 12, and 24 m) in septembre 2019.

The file “raw_taxa_[bac/arc/euc].csv” contains the taxonomic assignments of the amplicon sequence variants (ASVs), from domain to the lowest confidently assigned taxonomic rank. The file “raw_asv_[bac/arc/euc].csv” contains the ASV abundance table, with ASVs as rows, samples as columns, and the corresponding sequencing read counts.
