Transcriptome raw data from control, bollworm-infested, and wounded tobacco plants

The larvae were reared under dark conditions in an insect breeding room (25 ± 3 °C) and 2nd to 3rd instar larvae were used for biological assays. Twenty-day-old tobacco plants were divided into three groups: check (CK), 5th instar Helicoverpa armigera larvae-infested plants (infested), and mechanically damaged plants (wounded).

Total RNA was extracted from the check (CK_1, CK_2, CK_3), infested (Infested_1, Infested_2, Infested_3), and wounded (Wound_1, Wound_2, Wound_3) plants using the TRIzol™ reagent (Invitrogen) according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Polyadenylated mRNA was purified using the NEBNext® Poly(A) mRNA Magnetic Isolation Module (New England Biolabs, Ipswich，USA). Illumina cDNA libraries were prepared with the TruSeq RNA Sample Preparation Kit v2 (Illumina, San Diego, CA, USA) following the manufacturer’s protocol, and sequencing was performed on an Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform.
