Single-cell RNA-seq of Lung Regeneration in Young and Aged Mice After Injury

Listed in NCBI GEO

This study investigates how aging alters lung regeneration after injury using longitudinal single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) in young and aged mice.

Description

Samples were collected across multiple timepoints post-injury to dissect baseline and repair-phase transcriptional changes. We observed sustained fibroblast activation in aged lungs driven by prolonged senescence and persistent epithelial-immune crosstalk.

A Gzmk-high CD8+ T cell population unique to aged mice impaired epithelial progenitor function through induction of senescence. Single-cell interpretable tensor decomposition identified immune cell subsets most affected by aging, particularly T/B lymphocytes and macrophages. This dataset provides raw FASTQ files corresponding to all timepoints and conditions analyzed in the study.
